SAFETY FIRST

Repair must never
require coercion.

Joint reflection is for situations where both people can participate voluntarily and safely. Safety takes priority over completing a form.

When not to use a shared repair exercise

If there is intimidation, threats, physical harm, coercive control, stalking, or fear of retaliation, do not rely on a shared conversation map to resolve the situation. A partner may be pressured to disclose private information or to agree with statements they do not believe. The tool cannot assess the danger or determine an appropriate plan.

If someone is in immediate danger

Contact local emergency services. If in the United States, the National Domestic Violence Hotline offers confidential resources at thehotline.org or 800-799-SAFE (7233). Consider whether your device or browser activity can be monitored.

Personal reflection is different

You may use the guided questions privately to consider your own choices and needs. However, written or digital notes can still be discovered on a shared device. Never use the tool as a substitute for safety planning or independent support.

Confession and forgiveness

Genuine confession must be voluntary and truthful. A person should not be pressured into declaring fault to end conflict. Forgiveness cannot be used as a demand to drop protective boundaries or immediately restore trust.

Scope of the tool

Covenant Repair provides biblical education and structured reflection. It does not determine who is telling the truth, diagnose conditions, assess threats, provide emergency support, or replace qualified counselors and pastoral care.
